Ams OSRAM and DP Patterning present more efficient alternative for manufacturing automotive lighting components
The jointly developed demonstrator reduces CO₂ emissions by 98% and enhances automotive lighting networks using chemical-free dry processes.
Ams OSRAM and DP Patterning have jointly developed a demonstrator that highlights the future direction of automotive lighting networks, featuring single-layer flexible printed circuit boards (FPCBs) instead of complex multilayer designs. This innovation promises significant environmental benefits, notably reducing CO₂ emissions by up to 98% compared to chemical wet etching, according to the Fraunhofer Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). The demonstrator combines DP Patterning's dry PCB manufacturing process with Ams OSRAM’s AS1163 LED driver, which can be used easily for Flex PCB applications in interior and exterior lighting as well as smart surfaces.
