In the fuel tanks sector, plastic tank suppliers gained a dominant position in Europe and North America by early 2000s, while in Asia, they are catching up with the steel tank suppliers now. The last few years have seen a dramatic change in regulatory policies which might just swing the market back in steel tanks favour. In North America and Europe, the focus on improving the environmental conditions has taken lead in regulatory policies. Future regulations strongly try to limit emissions from vehicles and bring in the use of biofuels.
