The formalisation of Fiat's 53.5% stake gives rise to a number of changes in key areas

Last week, Italian automaker Fiat finally became the majority owner of Chrysler as it took its stake up to 53.5%, after finalising a deal with the US Treasury Department to take the last government-held 6% stake in the company. Fiat reportedly paid the Treasury USD500 million for the stake, which marks the US government's full exit from ownership of the American automaker. Fiat also acquired a 1.5% stake from the Canadian Government for $125 million.
