Production of the vehicle at Finnish contract manufacturer Valmet was stopped temporarily in mid-July 2012 as part of a routine summer break but has not resumed.

Fisker has stated that production of its Karma plug-in hybrid sedan has now been suspended for over six months, reports AutoBlogGreen. In a statement, spokesperson Roger Ormisher said that production of the vehicle at Finnish contract manufacturer Valmet was stopped temporarily in mid-July 2012 as part of a routine summer break but has not resumed. He added that the suspension is partly due to renegotiations with Valmet over the production contract, which was further stalled when battery supplier A123 Systems entered bankruptcy. Ormisher said the company has sufficient Karma supplies for the first quarter of this year, by which time it hopes to reach a revised deal with A123 Systems, which is to be taken over by Chinese auto parts manufacturing group Wanxiang.
