EU threatens to take German government to European Court of Justice over its backing of Mercedes-Benz in refrigerant row
The European Commission has given the German government two months to comply with its request that it apply the EU directive on the use of air-conditioning refrigerants
The row between the European Union, the German government, and Mercedes-Benz over the latter's refusal to stop using the outlawed R134a air-conditioning refrigerant has escalated, according to a Reuters report. The EU's legal arm, the European Commission, has demanded that the German government stop backing Daimler's main passenger car unit's stance or else face the threat of being taken to the European Court of Justice (ECJ) over the matter, while fines may also be levied.
