Nexteer workers reject contract
Workers voiced concerns over health care and wage provisions
UAW workers at supplier Nexteer's Saginaw, Michigan, United States, plant rejected a proposed contract, with 3,103 voting "no" to the contract and 80 voting "yes", reports Automotive News. The report says that workers voiced concerns over health care and wage provisions and that some felt the raises were not large enough and objected to losing three paid holidays. In a statement from Nexteer, the company said, "While this is disappointing, it is a clear message from our employees and one we are considering as we evaluate the strategic options for the Saginaw facility."
