Automakers are trying to catch up with Tesla in OTA software update

Delphi is developing a suite of software that will enable automakers to update their vehicles remotely over-the-air (OTA), Bloomberg reported on 21 April. The company’s OTA capabilities will allow automaker to conduct certain updates in vehicle as back as 2010 models. Delphi’s OTA capabilities could be built into new models by 2020 if the company’s negotiations with its customers go as planned, the Bloomberg report said.
