Electric and electronic systems impact almost every part of the car, the powertrain, infotainment, safety, convenience and comfort. The earliest applications of electronics in vehicles were engine and transmission control, but electronics have now penetrated virtually every aspect of the vehicle. The automotive industry is entering a new age of electronics with new safety and connectivity system solutions. In order to relay information and electric power between different components of the vehicle, wiring harnesses are required, which are an organized set of wires, terminals and connectors that run throughout the entire vehicle.
