Acquisition to strengthen Japanese supplier’s global position as one of the leading semiconductor suppliers for various applications, including automotive

Renesas Electronics is in the advanced stage of talks to acquire Integrated Device Technology (IDT) in a deal that could value the US-based rival at around USD6 billion, Nikkei Asian Review reported on 31 August. The Japanese supplier has confirmed the talks and said it would make a prompt announcement if it makes any concrete decisions. “While Renesas is considering the reported acquisition to accelerate its business growth, no definitive decision has been reached,” the Japan-based company was quoted as saying on Friday (31 August).
