Control solutions for intelligent lighting
New intelligent lighting technologies are escalating demand for semiconductor devices
Automotive lighting has begun to increasingly contribute towards driver assistance and emerge as a significant active safety enabler. Unlike lighting technologies of the past, new headlamps integrate digital light and sensors interface to support advance applications such as adaptive front lighting, dynamic cornering light, automatic levelling, mood lighting and many more. However, with increase in automatic functionality in automotive lighting, demand for semiconductor devices has grown tremendously to prolong the life of lighting systems. To monitor parameters that control life of light sources such as high temperature, current, and brightness, various power management devices are offered by semiconductor companies. For example, Osram Opto Semiconductors has developed a new LED product name “Oslon Compact PL” which features UX:3 chip technology to offer improved brightness and better thermal capabilities for adaptive glare-free high beam, daytime running lights, low beam, and standard high beam.
