Advanced thermal management for battery electric vehicles – A first in China
Air International Thermal Systems (AITS) is supplying probably the most advanced thermal management system seen so far in the electric vehicle (EV) sector to NIO for their all-electric 7-seater sport utility vehicle (SUV)—the ES8. The AITS team based in Shanghai collaborated closely with NIO to bring leading-edge development to China. Moreover, what makes it even more impressive is that the system was designed, developed, fully engineered, and produced in China and showcases the technological prowess of the Chinese auto industry in the EV sector.
According to IHS Markit forecasts, one in five light vehicles produced in major production regions will be a full hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) or battery electric vehicle (BEV) by 2025. This means that as the volumes rise, investments will begin to make financial sense to manufacturers rather than being just a niche indulgence. Current IHS Markit data indicates that the balance of this emerging sector is strongly tipping toward full HEVs, as can be seen in the chart below.
