Japan to make automatic braking mandatory for new vehicles from November 2021
Existing models will be required to come equipped with automated braking by December 2025
Japan plans to make fitment of automatic emergency braking (AEB) system mandatory in all new and remodeled passenger cars sold in the country from November 2021, The Japan Times reported on 17 December. The existing models will be required to be equipped with automatic brake systems from December 2025. Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism will apply stricter standards on automatic brake system in line with the United Nations international standard that is set to come into effect next month.
