GM partners with MP Materials to source EV motor materials domestically

MP Materials will start producing NdFeB magnets for GM’s Ultium platform vehicles from 2023.

Automaker General Motors announced via press release on 9 December that it had entered into a long-term supply agreement with Nevada materials producer MP Materials for the manufacturing and supply of rare earth materials, alloy, and finished Neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) magnets for the electric motors used in GM’s Ultium EV Platform.
