Volkswagen breaks ground of its first battery cell factory in Salzgitter, Germany
VW names its battery division PowerCo; plans to invest more than USD20.36 billion in battery value chain through 2030
German automaker Volkswagen broke ground of the first of its six planned battery cell factories in Salzgitter, Germany on 7 July 2022. It said that the production of EV batteries is slated to start in 2025.
