BorgWarner, a global automotive supplier, has partnered with Manufacture 2030 (M2030), a decarbonization software provider, to measure and reduce its supply chain carbon footprint. The partnership aims to support BorgWarner's goal of reducing absolute Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 25% by 2030.
Through the agreement, BorgWarner will leverage M2030's expertise and software to encourage its direct material suppliers to increase their emissions-reduction efforts. The tool will gather energy-usage data related to the manufacturing of products such as electricity, natural gas and more, and provide a platform for tracking emissions-reduction efforts. BorgWarner will promote collaboration, accountability and engagement across its supply base through the tool.
The partnership comes after the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) validated BorgWarner's targets to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 85%, and absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by 25% by 2030. BorgWarner's Charging Forward accelerated electrification strategy is another key lever in the company's pursuit of Scope 3 emissions reduction.
