Lithium iron phosphate may get another boost as mainland China further tightens battery safety standards
With a focus on enhancing safety standards and mitigating thermal runaway risks, the new rules could reshape market dynamics in favor of the relatively safer technology.
Lithium iron phosphate (LFP) technology is already a force to be reckoned with in mainland China’s electric vehicle segment, with automakers preferring this technology over the nickel cobalt manganese (NCM) battery due to its low-cost, better safety attributes. LFP’s position may get even stronger when mainland China’s new battery safety regulations take effect.
