Chinese automakers target 100% domestic chip production in vehicles from 2026
The new goal is to achieve 100% self-developed automotive chips by 2027, a significant increase from the target of 25% in 2025
Mainland Chinese automakers such as SAIC Motor, Changan, Great Wall Motor, BYD, Li Auto and Geely are set to launch models featuring 100% domestically produced chips, with at least two brands planning mass production by 2026, according to Nikkei Asia report on June 17.
