The rise of projection lighting in the automotive industry

Ground light projection, also referred to as near field projection light or just projection light, is becoming one of the latest trends in automotive lighting, offering significant potential to contribute to safe driving and vehicle personalization. According to data compiled by S&P Global Mobility analysts, automakers installed 12.1 million projection light components in light vehicles produced in 2024, a number forecast to more than double to 34.6 million units in 2031, at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 16.2% during 2024–31.
