Mainland Chinese automakers’ tie-ups with Huawei to speed up smart EV launches
Through smart partnerships, joint ventures, and its role in the HIMA alliance, Huawei gives state-run mainland Chinese automakers access to technology, brand credibility, and scale that they might struggle to develop completely in-house, especially in a fast-moving market.
Mainland China’s state-run automakers have pinned hopes on their partnerships with Huawei to gain a solid foothold in the country’s highly competitive electric vehicle (EV) market. Under Huawei-backed Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA), mainland Chinese automakers have introduced a diverse range of EVs featuring Huawei’s smart vehicle technologies over the past three years.
