The US automaker plans initial investment of $366 million in its Chennai plant to restart operations in 2029.

Ford Motor has announced plans to resume manufacturing operations at its Chennai plant in India, Autocar Professional reported on Oct. 31. The US-based automaker will focus on producing next-generation engines for export markets, with an annual production capacity of 235,000 engines. Operations are expected to begin in 2029 following Ford's memorandum of understanding with the Tamil Nadu state government, building on a previous letter of intent from September 2024.
