Beyond headlights: The evolution of front lighting in modern vehicles
While headlights remain the most critical part of a vehicle's front lighting system, automakers are equipping the fronts of their vehicles with several other lighting solutions to create a distinctive light signature that enhances the brand's premium appeal.
Over the years, front lighting has evolved into a crucial design tool for vehicle manufacturers, enhancing the aesthetic appeal of vehicles without compromising their essential role in ensuring safer driving. While automakers are required to equip their vehicles with mandatory headlights and auxiliary lights — such as turn indicators, position lights, and, in certain markets, daytime running lights (DRLs) — they have a variety of options to create unique, model-specific light signatures. These distinctive light designs help manufacturers differentiate their vehicles from those of competitors.
