Software-Defined Vehicles

MWC 2026 demonstrated that the future of mobility will be shaped not only by automakers, but also by telecom operators, cloud providers, chipmakers and technology platforms working together to build dynamic connected and intelligent vehicles.

Organized by the GSM Association (GSMA), the Mobile World Congress (MWC) was held in the Spanish city of Barcelona from March 2-5, 2026. The event showcased major advances across 6G, AI integration, satellite connectivity, and automotive digital transformation. The automotive industry was no longer a peripheral presence at the event. Instead, it emerged as one of the event’s central themes, highlighting a profound shift: vehicles are rapidly evolving from mechanical machines into fully connected, software-defined digital platforms.
