Samsung SDI secures a US$1.06 billion deal for cathode materials from L&F to strengthen ESS battery production
Samsung SDI Co. has entered into a purchase agreement with L&F Co., a South Korean battery material supplier, to bolster its North American energy storage system (ESS) business. The deal, signed on Monday, involves Samsung SDI receiving 1.6 trillion won (US$1.06 billion) in cathode materials used in lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries from L&F over three years starting in 2027, with an option to extend the agreement for an additional three years.
