Elon Musk unveils Terafab to produce AI chips for Tesla EVs and SpaceX space data centers
Elon Musk announced plans for Tesla and SpaceX to develop an advanced chip facility in Austin, Texas, known as Terafab, in response to the growing need for computing power amid a global chip shortage. Terafab will consist of two facilities, each producing a specific chip design. One will focus on AI chips for Tesla's electric vehicles and Optimus humanoid robots, and the other on AI chips for SpaceX's space-based data centers.
