Colorado Senate advances bill to strengthen EV battery recycling
The bill mandates manufacturer responsibility, sets safety and recycling standards and seeks higher mineral recovery rates as it moves to the House
The Colorado Senate has passed a new legislation, SB26-003, aimed at promoting responsible recycling, reusing and managing of electric vehicle (EV) batteries at the end of a vehicle's life. The bill is sponsored by Senator Katie Wallace, D-Longmont, and Assistant Majority Leader Lisa Cutter, D-Jefferson County, and focuses on improving the end-of-life management of EVs, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and hybrid batteries.
