Malaysia targets Level 3 autonomous driving by 2030
Officials urge upgrades in local vendors, infrastructure and regulations to support autonomous vehicles and expand Malaysia’s role in the regional automotive supply chain
Malaysia is aiming to achieve Level 3 autonomous driving capabilities by 2030, aligning with standards developed by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), which define five levels of autonomous driving from Level 0, with no driving automation, to Level 5, which enables fully autonomous driving in all conditions.
