The Trump administration has presented Mexico with a proposal to significantly increase the regional content requirements for North American–built cars and trucks under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), Reuters reported on May 29, citing people familiar with the development. The US is demanding that vehicles should contain at least 82% regional content to qualify for preferential access under the trade agreement, with half of that value produced in the US.
