Continental partners with Renault to develop low-rolling-resistance tire for EVs
The jointly developed EcoContact 7 variant reduces rolling resistance, increasing driving range
Continental has collaborated with Renault Group to develop an advanced tire designed to improve the efficiency and range of electric vehicles (EVs). Building on its EcoContact 7 model, the Germany-based tire-maker engineered a customized variant specifically for Renault’s innovation teams. The result is a tire with rolling resistance up to 35% lower than the threshold for the EU’s highest tire-efficiency rating. This improvement can extend the driving range of an EV by around 30 km on a 500-km charge.
