NHTSA plans brake pedal rule change for fully driverless vehicles
The proposal could come as soon as June 25 and would leave braking performance standards and requirements for conventional vehicles unchanged
The US Transportation Department is preparing to remove the requirement for brake pedals in fully driverless vehicles, a move that could support wider deployment of robo-taxis by companies such as Tesla and Waymo.
