India proposes mandatory vehicle cybersecurity and software update rules
The draft covers several vehicle categories, requires AIS-189 and AIS-190 compliance, and phases deadlines from October 2026 to October 2029
India's Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has published draft rules adding two provisions to make cybersecurity and software update management, for the first time, mandatory legal requirements for several motor-vehicle categories.
