ZF Lifetec has introduced a new occupant protection concept system aimed at improving vehicle safety as automakers increasingly adopt more relaxed and comfort-oriented seating layouts. The company has developed a coordinated four-airbag system designed to protect occupants sitting in reclined positions, a scenario expected to become more common with the advancement of automated driving technologies. ZF Lifetec plans to start commercial production of the new airbag concept in 2028.
