Sony suspends Kumamoto chip plant operations after 7.1-magnitude earthquake

Production stopped after the July 28 earthquake; Sony reported no on-site injuries and no significant damage at Nagasaki, Oita and Kagoshima.

Sony Semiconductor Solutions said operations at its Kumamoto Technology Center have been suspended after a 7.1-magnitude earthquake struck Japan’s Kumamoto region.
