NHTSA allows Zoox to deploy up to 2,500 robo-taxis annually
The exemption includes enhanced oversight and comes alongside work on automated vehicle performance standards with the SAE Industry Technologies Consortia
The NHTSA said the exemption will be subject to an enhanced, adaptable oversight structure that can evolve as Zoox’s technology advances.
