Magna has secured a Chery program to build a 250-kW 800-V two-speed electric drive system at its new Wuhu facility in mainland China, the company said July 28.
The award marks a step in Magna’s electrification work in mainland China and will be localized for production at the Wuhu plant. Magna said the system is intended for battery-electric vehicle applications and can be integrated across global platforms.
The electric drive is based on Magna’s modular electrification portfolio and uses a compact, integrated design. The company said the architecture is designed to improve power density, energy efficiency and driving performance.

Magna also said its DHD Duo dedicated hybrid drive system with Chery has entered series production on the Jetour G700. That program was first announced in 2024.
The company said the two programs show its ability to develop electrified propulsion products while using local manufacturing in mainland China.
