Sony and TSMC discuss ¥1 trillion investment in planned Kumamoto chip factory
The venture would be 60% owned by Sony and 40% by TSMC, targeting next-generation image sensor mass production as early as 2029
Sony and TSMC are discussing a combined ¥1 trillion (about $6.3 billion) investment in a jointly planned chip factory in Japan’s Kumamoto Prefecture, Nikkei reported Aug. 10.
