Volkswagen’s V2G offer is one of the first attempts to deploy bidirectional (BiDi) charging at a scale large enough to influence power markets, unlock new revenue streams for EV owners and support Europe’s renewable energy ambitions.

On the sidelines of Power2Drive Europe, an annual event focused on electric mobility and charging infrastructure organized in Munich between June 23–25, Volkswagen (VW) Group, along with its energy subsidiary Elli, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and CUPRA brands, unveiled its vehicle-to-grid (V2G) package for the German market, with commercial launch scheduled for VW customers in the fourth quarter of 2026.
