Exterior lighting is becoming the standardized language of automated vehicle intent.
Automotive lighting was once a largely solved engineering discipline. Headlamps illuminated the road, indicators and brake lights communicated driver actions, and distinctive lighting signatures helped manufacturers differentiate their brands. The priorities were visibility, compliance, and styling.
